Indiana High School Athletic Directors !

Indiana University Varsity Womens Rowing is looking for Hoosier Talent!  We are calling for the best female athletes in the state to compete for a full-tuition scholarship and a chance to be on the womens rowing team.  This opportunity is for young women who have never rowed before.  This winner will receive the HOMEGROWN HOOSIER 1 year full tuition scholarship.

Indiana Rowing has 75 strong, competitive young women on its roster and most of them never sat in a boat before they came to IU.  Walk-ons have been the backbone of our program from its inception in 2000 and we want to continue to develop our Hoosier bloodline.  We recognize that there are thousands of national champion caliber athletes right here in our backyard who have never had the opportunity to sit in a boat or hold an oar.  We are making a commitment to tapping into that talent and providing our HOMETOWN female athletes with the best opportunity they can get. This is the chance to be a Hoosier student-athlete, a chance to wear the candy-striped uniform, and a chance to be among the nations finest female athletes.

Our Homegrown Hoosier program is an investment and a commitment to these athletes.  We want to provide the opportunity to not only be great rowers, but also provide the opportunity to receive a fantastic education.

The state of Indiana has some of the greatest high school athletes in the country, they just havent discovered the sport of rowing yet.  We are looking for those athletes.  Over the course of the 20-year history of our program, we have had athletes join our team, learn the sport of rowing and go on to become All Big Ten and All American Athletes, Big Ten Freshman and Athletes of the Year, and some have even gone on to US National team camps.  Not bad for athletes who had never sat in a boat before coming to campus.  Indiana student-athletes make up the core of our nationally ranked rowing program here at IU.  We are looking for the next generation of great Hoosiers that will keep our success going.  The Hometown Hoosier program is our way of supporting that legacy. Steve Peterson, Head Coach
