APRIL NEWSLETTER

Its been a busy month and a half to say the least.

So where should we start.......

Two Olympians and a 3 x All-American seems like a good place

Putting an ELITE level coaching staff in place has been my number one priority since becoming the head coach at Virginia Tech.  I cant tell you how excited I am with the additions of 2012 Olympian Jared Frayer, 2016 Olympian Frank Molinaro and OUR very own 3 x All-American Ty Walz.  Virginia Tech is now one of only four programs with two Olympians on staff.  The others being Iowa, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma.

If youre not familiar with Jared or Frank, I encourage you to do a quick google search.  Ive also pasted a couple of links below that will give you some insight into their mind set.  Take a few minutes, watch and listen, you will be impressed and very excited for the young men in OUR program.

A HUGE THANK YOU.To EVERYONE who has given or pledged their financial support to the Southeast Regional Training Center.  The SERTC is the life blood for Virginia Tech Wrestling.  If WE truly want a legitimate chance of bringing a NATIONAL TITLE home to Blacksburg, we need the SERTC to continue to grow.

Heres how you can help.  Go to www.southeastrtc.com and donate NOW!

STAY TUNED.I am in the process of putting together a presentation that will explain, in detail, exactly what the Southeast RTC is, why its important to VT Wrestling and where WE need to take it!

On the mat in March!

ACC Tournament Champions!  The Hokies rolled into to Raleigh, NC and came away with six individual ACC Champions and ANOTHER ACC team title, besting North Carolina State and the rest of the field by almost 30 points.  Congratulations to our individual champs: Joey Dance, Solomon Chishko, Zach Epperly, Zack Zavatsky, Jared Haught and Ty Walz!

MORE THAN 400 HOKIE FANS MADE THE MARCH TO THE ARCH to cheer the Hokies on to a sixth-place team finish at the NCAA Championships.  Joey Dance, Solomon Chishko, Sal Mastriani, Jared Haught and Ty Walz all earned All-American honors.

I am incredibly proud of how OUR guys finished the season under some pretty unique circumstances.  Despite all of the changes that have taken place in the last eight weeks I have never been more optimistic about the future. We will continue to make Virginia Tech Wrestling #AllAboutUs.
